The title describes the book pretty well. The story follows an old man, Allan, who is about to celebrate his hundredth birthday at an elderly residence, but decides otherwise and climbs out of his bedroom window with nothing else than his slippers to take off on an adventure.
I was particularly attracted by the book cover and the endless title “the hundred year old man who climbed out of the window and disappeared“!!!. This book has two story lines. Every alternate chapter one of the narrative tells about the current adventures of Allan Karlson and the other story deals with his first hundred years of life.
It is very funny, there are many twists and turns, but my interest towards the end of the book slowed down a bit due to its massive historical and political context that I am not really keen on. I also think that the author was running out of steam in the end and put everything that crossed his mind in the book without considering how important they were in the plot.
